Tennessee Bridge to Be Named After President Donald Trump

by | Jul 8, 2026

An East Tennessee bridge is being named after President Donald Trump.

On Thursday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Tennessee politicians will gather to unveil the “Donald J. Trump Bridge” in Jefferson County, which has an estimated population of 60,000 people.

The state politicians in attendance will be Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge), U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Bill Hagerty (R-TN), U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN-02), State Senator Jessie Seal (R-New Tazewell), and State Representative Jeremy Faison (R-Cosby).

In 2025, the Tennessee General Assembly passed House Bill (HB) 2013, approving a bridge on Interstate 40 near Douglas Lake to be named after Trump. The bridge is currently called the I-40 Douglas Lake Bridge.

As a county, Jefferson County has supported Trump when he has run for president. In 2024, 81 percent of residents voted for Trump. In 2020, 79% of voters supported Trump, and in 2016, 78 percent of voters backed him.

Tennessee politicians have attempted to name numerous things after Trump.

State Representative Todd Warner (R-Chapel Hill) introduced HB 217 in 2025 to rename the Nashville International Airport the “Trump International Airport.” The bill would have cost taxpayers $10.3 million to complete the rebranding, according to Airline Geeks. HB 217 did not make it out of the State House Transportation Committee.

In 2023, State Representative Paul Sherrell (R-Sparta) introduced HB 1372, aiming to rename Rep. John Lewis Way in Nashville to “President Donald Trump Boulevard.” Sherrell ended up withdrawing the bill proposal.

This year in Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law renaming the Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) to “President Donald J. Trump International Airport.”

“Our goal throughout this transition is to keep everything easy and familiar for our passengers,” said Laura Beebe, PBI’s director of airports. “Our team will be working behind the scenes to implement the required updates, and travelers will continue to enjoy the same smooth, convenient and friendly experience they expect.”

The name change will go into effect on Thursday.

Furthermore, in 2025, Florida renamed a 4-mile stretch near Mar-a-Lago to “President Donald J. Trump Boulevard.”
