‘Too Dangerous to Release’: EJ Haust Raises Red Flags on Mythos AI Capabilities

by | Apr 10, 2026

EJ Haust, a digital marketing expert and official guest host of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show, is raising concerns about the implications of advanced artificial intelligence (AI), specifically the emerging capabilities of Anthropic’s Mythos system.

This week, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent convened an impromptu, closed-door meeting with top U.S. bank CEOs after reports surfaced about the powerful cyber capabilities of Anthropic’s Claude Mythos Preview model.

The meeting reportedly focused on how the AI system could expose hidden vulnerabilities in financial infrastructure and potentially be exploited by hackers or hostile actors. Anthropic has since limited access to the model, rolling it out only to select partners as part of a controlled cybersecurity initiative.

During Friday’s broadcast, Haust described Mythos as a powerful tool capable of identifying and bypassing deeply embedded system safeguards.

“It’s a highly advanced AI system that can detect and unlock essentially certain vulnerabilities,” she explained. “This particular AI program…is able to detect and then thwart those vulnerabilities.”

However, the real danger, Haust warned, lies in the model’s capabilities to make decisions on its own.

“It’s doing it on its own and it’s unlocking those protections without human interaction. And so that’s the problem,” she said. “It’s not going to stop until it’s done.”

Haust said one of the most alarming aspects of Mythos is its ability to uncover long-hidden system flaws.

“Some of them have been literally decades,” she said, referring to vulnerabilities in financial institutions and large organizations.

“This is entirely too dangerous to release right now,” she stressed. “Technology’s getting to a place that is scary and it’s doing things on its own.”

With regard to the government’s role in regulating such technology, Haust emphasized that regulation is unlikely to keep pace with innovation.

“You’re never going to be ahead of the tech companies that are producing these things,” she said. “So best we learn how to use them responsibly… because the train’s left the station.”

Looking ahead, Haust warned about the intersection of AI and financial systems.

“If we get digital money as the only form of currency, then yes… they can stop you from making any purchase. They can literally ruin your life. Even by accident,” she noted, adding, “That’s where we’re headed with dynamic pricing, with oversight of your spending.”

Haust warned that such a future could jeopardize personal freedom and economic independence.

“It definitely would be like a bad episode of Black Mirror…to force that on the population and not have another option,” she said.
