‘Foreign National’ Arrested, Charged After Allegedly Found Wandering Tennessee Middle School Campus Drinking Beer

by | Apr 22, 2026

The Trousdale County Sheriff’s Office reported that a foreign national who was allegedly drinking from an open beer can on the grounds of a middle school was arrested Tuesday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday, a School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to the county’s middle school, Jim Satterfield Middle School, observed an “unknown” adult male walking on campus without authorization.

The SRO proceeded to detain the individual, with assistance from additional deputies.

During the encounter, the sheriff’s office said officers determined the man was consuming alcohol from an open beer can while trespassing on school property. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the county jail.

The individual now faces multiple charges, including public intoxication, possession of an alcoholic beverage on school property, and violation of open container laws.

Tuesday’s arrest of the alleged foreign national male in Trousdale County, the smallest county in Tennessee by area, comes as a report issued earlier this year by the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference showed that Trousdale County submitted 13 reports throughout 2025 documenting arrests involving individuals identified as not lawfully present or with unverifiable citizenship status.

The Trousdale County Sheriff’s Office operates under a 287(g) Memorandum of Agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, signed in August 2025, which allows trained and certified local personnel to carry out limited immigration enforcement functions within the jail.

The agreement is designed to facilitate the transfer of certain individuals in local custody to federal authorities following the completion of criminal proceedings.

While the sheriff’s office confirmed that a hearing has been scheduled in General Sessions Court, it has not yet released the identity, including information with regard to immigration status, of the individual pending court proceedings following Tuesday’s incident.
