MNPD Street Race Initiative Nets Arrests for Racing, Assault, Reckless Driving

Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD)’s Street Race Initiative led to the arrest of three people over the weekend who face charges ranging from drag racing, reckless driving, and aggravated assault.

Law enforcement arrested 18-year-old Jason Linares and charged him with drag racing, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, theft, and driving on a revoked license.

Linares allegedly drove over 90 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour speed limit area, according to MNPD. The police department said Linares allegedly appeared to be racing a black sedan.

A MNPD helicopter captured Linares allegedly going up to 140 miles per hour.

MNPD officers allegedly stopped Linares’ car by using spike strips, the police department said.

MNPD also noted that Linares (pictured above) allegedly ended up driving his car off the road into a ditch and fled his car along with three passengers.

According to the police department, Linares and the others were detained in an apartment complex.

MNPD noted a pistol and a stolen tag were recovered from Linares’ Infiniti.

Linares admitted to law enforcement that he had driven the car but did not know the driver of the black sedan, according to MNPD.

The police department stated it arrested two of Linares’ passengers while a third got released without charges.

Linares is free on $50,000 bail, MNPD noted.

In a separate incident, MNPD arrested Mondrikus Hamilton, who is now charged with evading arrest, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and misdemeanor marijuana possession.

The MNPD said police officers spotted Hamilton allegedly driving a two-door coupe and that he swerved into oncoming traffic without headlights.

The 28-year-old allegedly almost hit a police vehicle, the police department said, adding that he allegedly fled at high speeds and ended up allegedly striking another vehicle.

Hamilton allegedly escaped on foot to a gas station, but was taken into custody soon after, MNPD stated.

He is free on a $25,000 bond, the police department noted.

The third person MNPD’s Street Race Initiative took into custody was 20-year-old Michael Brice.

Law enforcement took Brice into custody on an outstanding aggravated assault warrant during a traffic stop, the police department said.

Brice was wanted for a November 2024 incident where he allegedly pointed a gun at a juvenile female and pulled the trigger after an argument, MNPD stated.

The gun did not fire, so Brice allegedly hit the female with the weapon, according to the police department.

He is free on a $25,000 bond, the MNPD said.
