U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi praised Tennessee U.S. Senator and 2026 gubernatorial candidate Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) for her push at the federal level for resources intended to help make Memphis safe.
Bondi and other Trump administration officials traveled to Memphis on Monday to give an update on the Memphis Safe Task Force and to serve a Thanksgiving dinner meal to members of the task force.
While speaking to the press, Bondi praised Blackburn for her persistence in seeking out federal help for Memphis’ crime epidemic.

“Before I even took office as attorney general, [Marsha Blackburn] was calling me constantly about making Memphis safe…Senator Blackburn, thank you for your tireless partnership and fighting to keep Memphis safe,” Bondi said.
Blackburn said the goal is to make Memphis “the safest city in the United States.”
“Memphis can be the model for the rest of the country,” she added.
As of Tuesday, authorities have made 3,192 arrests, seized 502 firearms and “substantial quantities of narcotics and related contraband,” and located 121 missing children in carrying out the Memphis Safe Task Force initiative.
Memphis Mayor Paul Young, a Democrat, has since credited the deployment of the Memphis Safe Task Force for the city’s recent decline in crime, as previously reported by The Tennessee Star.
Other federal and state officials present at Monday’s press conference in Memphis included Governor Bill Lee, U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), U.S. Marshals Service Director Gadyaces Serralta, Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville), State Senator Brent Taylor (R-Memphis), and U.S. Representative David Kustoff (R-TN-08).
Also present from the Trump administration was U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Scott Turner, who announced the launch of a new hotline to report illegal aliens, violent criminals, and sex offenders in Memphis public housing.
