Early voting for the December 2 special general election to fill the vacant U.S. House seat representing Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District begins Wednesday, November 12.
Voters in the 7th District – which includes Stewart, Montgomery, Robertson, Houston, Dickson, Cheatham, Humphreys, Hickman, Perry, Decatur, Wayne, and parts of Davidson, Benton, and Williamson counties – can bank their votes for the special general through November 26.
The final day for voters in the 7th District to request an absentee ballot for the special general election is Saturday, November 22.
“When you don’t vote, you turn over the keys of government to those who do vote. In Tennessee, we want every eligible Tennessean to vote, but the first step is registering to vote,” Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett said in a statement.
Republican nominee Matt Van Epps, Democratic nominee Aftyn Behn, and four Independent candidates – Teresa “Terri” Christie, Bobby Dodge, Robert James Sutherby, and Jon Thorp – will be listed on the general ballot.
Both Van Epps and Behn’s campaigns released new television and digital ads this week ahead of the early voting period.
Van Epps’ campaign released two new ads this week: one focusing on his agenda to “bring down prices, create good-paying jobs, and lower healthcare costs for working families,” and the other highlighting his opponent Behn’s alignment with the “radical” figures in the Democratic Party.
This— this radical, woke, dangerous ideology- is what my opponent wants to bring to our district. This lunacy has no place in Tennessee. If my opponent thinks campaigning with one of the nation’s most radical liberals will help her in this race, she’s got another thing coming.… pic.twitter.com/gvEOdXhdCG

Behn is set to hold a campaign event with U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX-30) on Friday at Watson Grove Baptist Church in Nashville.
Van Epps highlighted Behn’s relationship with Crockett in an ad released Friday, calling the pair “too radical for Tennessee.” He further said Behn’s alignment with figures such as Crockett is proof she wants to bring “radical, woke, dangerous ideology” to the Volunteer State.
“This lunacy has no place in Tennessee. If my opponent thinks campaigning with one of the nation’s most radical liberals will help her in this race, she’s got another thing coming. We’ll reject this ideology on Election Day. Vote early and vote red,” Van Epps said.
