The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee voted on Thursday to advance Braden Boucek, the nominee for U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, to a full Senate confirmation vote.
Boucek was reported favorably by the committee, as members voted 12-10 to advance his nomination to a full Senate vote.
U.S. Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), John Cornyn (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Thom Tillis (R-NC), John Kennedy (R-LA), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Eric Schmitt R-MO), Katie Britt (R-AL), and Ashley Moody (R-FL) voted to advance Boucek’s nomination.
Boucek’s nomination was opposed by U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL), Whitehouse (D-RI), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Chris Coons (D-DE), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Alex Padilla (D-CA), Peter Welch (D-VT), and Adam Schiff (D-CA).
I’m grateful to @MarshaBlackburn and those on Senate Judiciary who voted to advance my nomination to be US Attorney @USAO_MDTN. I’ll work hard to earn that trust.
This community and this office deserves it for sure.https://t.co/sIzbcvk0vc

As one of the 17 nominees considered by the committee on Thursday, Boucek was one of five to have had their nominations advanced via a party line vote.
Boucek said he was “grateful” for Tennessee’s Blackburn and the other Republicans who advanced his nomination to serve as the chief federal prosecutor for Middle Tennessee.
“I’ll work hard to earn that trust. This community and this office deserves it for sure,” he added.
President Donald Trump nominated Boucek to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee in June.
Boucek serves as Director of Litigation at the Southeastern Legal Foundation and previously served as Vice President of Legal Affairs at the Nashville-based Beacon Center of Tennessee.
He also served as an assistant U.S. Attorney in both Nashville and Memphis for over nine years, following a career as a prosecutor for the State of Tennessee, first as an assistant attorney general and later as an assistant district attorney.
