The Club for Growth PAC endorsed U.S. Army veteran and former Lee administration official Matt Van Epps in the October 7 special primary for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District on Friday.
“Matt Van Epps is a proven conservative fighter who will tirelessly defend Tennesseans in Congress. Van Epps is the only candidate who is committed to working with the White House to deliver results for the district,” Club for Growth PAC President David McIntosh said in a statement.
“Club for Growth PAC is proud to join President Trump in endorsing Van Epps, and we are committed to ensuring as many voters as possible know about this endorsement before polls open on Tuesday,” McIntosh added.
Van Epps gained Club for Growth’s endorsement moments after President Donald Trump announced his support for Van Epps’ congressional campaign.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said Van Epps “knows the WISDOM and COURAGE required to Defend our Country, Support our Incredible Military/Veterans, and Ensure PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH” and will fight for conservative values in D.C.
In addition to Club for Growth’s endorsement, the PAC’s affiliated School Freedom Fund released a new ad highlighting Trump’s endorsement of Van Epps.
“Now more than ever, President Trump needs battle-tested conservatives fighting alongside him to save our country. That’s why Trump endorsed Matt Van Epps for Congress. West Point grad, nine combat tours, decorated Army vet, Matt Van Epps has devoted his life to defending America and the conservative values we cherish. Endorsed by Trump, fearless conservative, Tennessee’s Matt Van Epps for Congress,” the narrator in the ad says.
Friday’s ad supporting Van Epps is the fourth ad Club for Growth has released in the 7th District primary.
The special primary election for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District will take place on Tuesday, October 7.
