The Department of Justice (DOJ) charged over 900 illegal immigrants with crimes in four different states in the first week of April.

These arrests are part of the DOJ’s Operation Take Back America, which is an initiative trying to stop illegal immigration, eliminate transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities.

Illegal immigrants were charged with crimes in Texas, Arizona, California, and New Mexico.

In Texas, the DOJ charged 484 foreign nationals with immigration-related crimes during this time span.

The Southern District of Texas filed 225 cases regarding immigration and border security. One hundred forty-four people have been charged with entering America illegally, and 70 face allegations of illegally reentering the country. Nine individuals are facing charges ranging from human smuggling, assaulting a federal officer, and firearms.

Texas’ western district initiated 259 immigration-related cases. One of the cases involves Miguel Angel Torres-Segura, an illegal immigrant from Mexico who allegedly participated in human smuggling operations that led to over 900 illegal immigrants being apprehended between May 2021 and June 2022.

In Arizona, 204 illegal immigrants face immigration-related crimes.

A total of 107 of these people face charges of coming to America illegally, while another 83 foreign nationals are charged with reentering the country illegally. Fourteen people have been charged with allegedly smuggling illegal immigrants into America.

The District of Arizona recently convicted Ivan Mauricio Hernandez-Mosqueda, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, for smuggling over 100 foreign nationals into America. He received almost four years in prison.

In California, the DOJ filed 121 cases regarding immigration-related offenses. The Southern District of California charged 97 illegal immigrants with crimes ranging from human smuggling, bribing a public official, importing controlled substances, and reentering the country illegally.

Twenty-four illegals face crimes in the Central District of California for reentering America after deportation. Some of these individuals were convicted of felonies before being removed from America.

In New Mexico, 86 people face charges of illegal reentry offenses, and another 11 individuals were charged with smuggling crimes.
