Trump Eliminates Secret Service Protection for Alejandro Mayorkas

by | Mar 25, 2025

President Donald Trump revoked the Secret Service protection for former Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, The New York Post reported.

“Per executive memorandum of the President, the protective detail for former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been discontinued,” a Secret Service spokesperson told The Post.

“To ensure the integrity of our operations, we cannot comment on the specifics of our protective means and methods,” the spokesperson added.

The Washington Post said the Secret Service notified Mayorkas last week of this decision.

Mayorkas is the latest former Biden administration official who has had their Secret Service protections revoked by Trump.

Last week, German-owned Politico reported the president removed the security clearances for former presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Hilary Clinton, former Representatives Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney, former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and former President Joe Biden’s entire family.

In January, Trump dismissed the security clearances for Dr. Anthony Fauci, former National Security Advisor John Bolton, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and American diplomat Brian Cook.

The Trump administration has spent the first part of its term undoing the actions of Mayorkas.

Last week, the Department of Homeland Security issued a notice that took away the temporary legal status of over 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans. These countries were given this status under the Biden administration.

America saw a huge influx of illegal immigrants coming into the country, with Mayorkas in charge of the Department of Homeland Security. During the Biden administration’s four years in office, America saw around 10 million people enter the country illegally.

In February, Border Patrol only apprehended 8,347 illegal aliens, which is an average of 330 per day.

House Republicans tried impeaching Mayorkas last year; however, it failed by a vote of 214 to 216.

Filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, the lawsuit accuses the “all-white supermajority” in the Tennessee General Assembly of unlawfully “cracking” Memphis into three separate congressional districts in order to “dilute” the black “voting power” and eliminate black voters’ ability to elect a candidate of their choice to Congress.
