Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced Tuesday that the agency arrested 81 illegal immigrants in a targeted enforcement operation in Kentucky.
The operation lasted from March 10 to March 14, with multiple law enforcement involved.
Of the illegal immigrants arrested, 25 of them were charged with criminal offenses. Some of these offenses included illegal reentry, illegal possession of firearms, and illegal possession of controlled substances.
These illegal immigrants came from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Cuba, India, and Palau.
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Chicago Field Office Director Sam Olson said public safety relies on law enforcement agencies that can coordinate together to make these arrests.
“Operations that lead to the arrest and detention of alien offenders can be complex and may, at times, prove to be challenging. Our agency is more than capable to meet those challenges,” Olson said. “I’m grateful for all our federal partners here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and we are committed, as a united group, to removing individuals from our communities who pose a threat to public safety and national security.”
Last week, ICE announced it arrested 214 criminal illegal immigrants in Northern Virginia.
These illegals had ties with transnational organized crime, gangs, and egregious illegal alien offenders. Gang members from MS-13 and the 18th Street gangs were arrested during this operation.
ICE Homeland Security Investigations Washington, D.C. acting Special Agent in Charge Christopher Heck said America is making an offer to gang members they can’t refuse; leave the United States now.
“If you don’t, we will find you, and there will be consequences,” Heck explained. “We will arrest and prosecute you to the full extent of the law.”
The number of illegal immigrants coming over the southern border has drastically decreased under the Trump administration.
In February, the Border Patrol apprehended only 8,347 illegal immigrants. This is an average of 330 per day.
