Tennessee U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) was among a group of senators who traveled with President Donald Trump to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on Sunday aboard Air Force One.
Trump was joined by Blackburn and U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC), John Barrasso (R-WY), Dave McCormick (R-PA), Katie Britt (R-AL), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Eric Schmitt (R-MO), and Tim Scott (R-SC) in attending Sunday’s big game against the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome.
Trump’s attendance at Sunday’s game marks the first time in history a sitting president has attended a Super Bowl game.
Prior to attending the game, the White House released Trump’s presidential message marking Sunday’s game in which the president wished both teams luck in their quest for victory and honored the 14 individuals who lost their lives and dozens others who were injured in the New Year’s Day ISIS-inspired terrorist attack on Bourbon Street.
“While thousands of fans from across our Nation gather in New Orleans to cheer on their favorite team, we remember that 14 families will be missing a loved one who was tragically murdered during a senseless terrorist attack while celebrating the New Year on Bourbon Street,” Trump said.
“Our thoughts are also with the 35 individuals injured during the attack whose lives were changed forever that fateful night, and our prayers will remain with them for continued strength, comfort, and healing,” Trump added.
While aboard Air Force One on the way to New Orleans, Trump signed a proclamation recognizing February 9, 2025 as the first ever Gulf of America Day to mark his first visit to the Gulf of America since its renaming.

“As my Administration restores American pride in the history of American greatness, it is fitting and appropriate for our great Nation to come together and commemorate this momentous occasion and the renaming of the Gulf of America,” the proclamation reads.
Hours after being sworn into office on January 20, Trump signed an executive order titled, “Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness” which required the Secretary of the Interior to “take all appropriate actions to rename as the ‘Gulf of America’ the U.S. Continental Shelf area bounded on the northeast, north, and northwest by the State of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida and extending to the seaward boundary with Mexico and Cuba in the area formerly named as the Gulf of Mexico.”

After the president signed the proclamation on Air Force One, Blackburn said Trump “never stops working for the American people.”
