Author J.K. Rowling Lauds Scene of President Trump Signing Executive Order Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports

J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, lauded the scene at the White House on Wednesday as President Trump, surrounded by young women and girls, signed an executive order banning transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports.

“Congratulations to every single person on the left who’s been campaigning to destroy women’s and girls’ rights. Without you, there’d be no images like this,” Rowling wrote in a viral post published to X.

Trump’s “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” executive order aims to “protect opportunities for women and girls to compete in safe and fair sports” by directing federal agencies to interpret federal Title IX rules as prohibiting the participation of biological males from competing in female sports.

Title IX states:

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

The Trump administration’s guidance on Title IX is a complete reversal of the previous administration’s guidance on the law, which required institutions to allow transgender individuals participate in programs, including sports, and use facilities, including restrooms and locker rooms, which aligned with their gender identity.

Rowling’s remarks on Trump’s signing of the executive order on Wednesday comes as the author has been an outspoken critic of gender ideology for years.

The author, despite receiving heavy criticism for her outspokenness on the issue, has strongly advocated against men taking advantage of women’s spaces and activities, including sports, and against children undergoing treatments and surgeries to align them with the opposite of their biological sex.

“Gender ideology has undermined freedom of speech, scientific truth, gay rights, and women’s and girls’ safety, privacy and dignity. It’s also caused irreparable physical damage to vulnerable kids,” Rowling reiterated in an X post on Thursday.
