Tennessee U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles Sworn into Second Term

by | Jan 6, 2025

Tennessee U.S. Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) was sworn into the 119th Congress on Friday, marking the beginning of his second term in Congress.

Ogles, who represents Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District, said it is an “honor” to continue representing the Volunteer State in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“There are great things ahead for Tennessee’s fifth district. It’s an honor to be your congressman and I will never stop fighting for Tennessee, for you, and for our principles,” Ogles said in a video statement.

Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District previously included all of Davidson County but has since been redistricted to parts of Wilson, Williamson, Maury, Marshall, and Lewis counties.

Ogles was supported in his reelection bid by President-elect Donald Trump, who at the time described the incumbent congressman as a “fantastic Representative for the incredible people of Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.”

During the 118th Congress, Ogles served on the U.S. House Financial Services Committee and, within the committee, the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy, the Subcommittee on National Security, Illicit Finance, and International Financial Institutions, and the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

The congressman also served on a number of caucuses during his first term, including the House Freedom Caucus, Border Security Caucus, Second Amendment Caucus, and Republican Study Committee.

Ogles sponsored 156 pieces of legislation during his first term; 66 bills passed the House, and five were signed into law by President Joe Biden.

The congressman made history last year for having submitted the highest number of legislative proposals by any freshman member of Congress in “several decades.”

“When I came to Congress, many D.C. power players and special interests wanted nothing more than for me to play the game, never get in the way, and to do what the swamp, what D.C., wanted me to do. To their dissatisfaction, I did the opposite,” Ogles said.

Ogles’ work during the 118th Congress earned him a 100 percent rating on the Heritage Action Scorecard, the nation’s leading conservative scorecard.
