Tennessee State Senator Brent Taylor (R-Memphis) announced Monday that his office has set up a hotline for crime victims and current or former staff members of the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office to gather complaints against District Attorney Steve Mulroy.
Last week, Taylor announced that he intends to file a Senate Joint Resolution immediately following the November election requiring the removal of Mulroy.
Taylor, who sent a notice of intent to Lt. Governor Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge) announcing his effort to remove Mulroy via ouster resolution, said the district attorney’s recently-dropped idea to not prosecute felons charged with unlawful possession of a weapon was the decision that “broke the camel’s back.”
The state senator also notified the Senate Judiciary Committee Legal Counsel of his request to research and draft an ouster resolution for Mulroy.
On Monday, Taylor said the response to his announcement of introducing an ouster resolution to remove Mulroy from office has been “overwhelming.”

“The response has been overwhelming since announcing my intention to file an ouster resolution against D.A. Mulroy for multiple instances of dereliction of duty and failing to enforce state law as written. I’ve had many in or connected to the District Attorney’s office reach out privately with information relative to the ouster resolution,” Taylor said.
In response to those interested in providing further information or complaints against Mulroy, Taylor’s office set up a hotline, 901-501-5079.
The public is encouraged to text or call the hotline about Mulroy or email information to DAInfo2024@gmail.com.
“I will keep your name confidential. If the information is relevant it will be shared with the legal counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee for inclusion in the ouster resolution. I encourage anyone with information to reach out through this hotline. Your efforts will Make Memphis Matter,” Taylor said.
