Americans for Prosperity Action Endorses Tennessee U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles for Reelection

by | Jun 18, 2024

Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) endorsed U.S. Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) for reelection to Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District on Monday.

AFP Action Senior Advisor for Tennessee Tori Venable called Ogles a “proven principled conservative,” saying that the incumbent congressman has done “exactly what he said he would do when he ran for Congress: stand up for Tennessee against overreaching government bureaucrats, fight to stop out-of-control spending, and hold those accountable for failing to uphold the Constitution and secure our borders.”

“We are thrilled to endorse Congressman Andy Ogles for reelection in U.S. Congress,” Venable said. “Supporting major tax cuts and vital labor reforms, Rep. Ogles has a proven track record fighting for smaller government.”

“As he continues to fight to bring fiscal responsibility back to Washington, AFP Action looks forward to putting the full weight of our grassroots support behind him and seeing him reelected in November,” Venale added.

Ogles is the first candidate running for Congress in Tennessee to receive the support of AFP Action so far this election year.

In addition to AFP Action’s endorsement, Ogles has previously been endorsed by multiple members of the Tennessee congressional delegation and the U.S. House, the Conservative Political Action Conference, the Republican Liberty Caucus, and former President Donald Trump.

A member of the House Freedom Caucus, Ogles has served as the U.S. representative for the Volunteer State’s 5th Congressional District since January 2023.

Before his election to Congress, Ogles served as the mayor of Maury County from 2018 until 2022.

The Tennessee congressman made history earlier this year for submitting the highest number of legislative proposals by any freshman member of Congress in “several decades,” as previously reported by The Tennessee Star.

Ogles faces Metro Nashville Council Member Courtney Johnston in the Republican primary, which will be held on August 1.
